Steve Black

Dr. Steve Black is an archaeologist and professor of anthropology at Texas State University.  He specializes in the hunting, gathering, and fishing societies of the Lower Pecos Canyonlands of southwest Texas and in the earth oven technology used to bake agave lechuguilla, sotol, and other Chihuahuan Desert plants. He directs the Ancient Southwest Texas research program (https://aswtproject.wordpress.com/) .  Black is a strong proponent of sharing what archaeologists learn with the world and served as the founding editor ofTexas Beyond History, the virtual museum of Texas' cultural heritage (www.texasbeyondhistory.net).
